Draft.red is an AI-powered editorial analysis tool built for the kind of writer who reads their own work with a red pen. The kind who doesn’t just want praise: they want problems found before a real editor, agent, or reader does.

We built ten distinct analytical lenses because no single pass catches everything. Prose quality and timeline errors require different eyes. Character voice drift and show-versus-tell failures live in different layers of the text. A good developmental editor runs multiple reads. Draft.red runs all of them.

Why we built this

Developmental editing is expensive: typically $0.01–0.03 per word, meaning a 90,000-word novel costs $900 to $2,700 per pass. Most writers can’t afford that frequency. They write in the dark, submit, and wait for rejections that never explain what went wrong.

We believe every serious writer deserves access to rigorous editorial feedback. Not a grammar checker. Not autocomplete. A real analytical pass that finds the structural flaws, the prose habits, the character inconsistencies that separate a good draft from a publishable one.
